The Reading Taste Interview
Genre is where taste goes to hide. Twelve questions that find it.
The Reading Taste Interview
Twelve questions. None of them are βwhat's your favourite genreβ, because genre is where taste goes to hide.
We'll ask how you abandon books, how much darkness you can carry, and whether you'd rather read a perfect sentence or a perfect twist. Then we'll name your reader type and match you with five books, each verified against our catalog and each with a reason that's about you, not the book's press release.
Takes about 3 minutes. No signup required.
How the matching works
Your answers build a taste fingerprint across eight axes (pace, prose, darkness, strangeness, difficulty, emotional intensity, narrator tolerance, and plot drive). We match that fingerprint against a catalog of 519 books, every one verified to exist against Google Books and Open Library records. No recommendation can name a book outside that catalog: if our AI suggests something we can't verify, it's discarded before you ever see it.
The last of your five picks is always a deliberate stretch: a book just outside your comfort zone, because taste that never gets challenged stops being taste.
